Bill from Roadmap of 57 bills on European integration adopted in Parliament

The Verkhovna Rada passed Bill on proprietary rights of copyright and related rights holders. This bill is one among 57 bills from the Roadmap of European integration bills presented by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy and the Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman. The Bill is supported by the international community. The First Deputy Chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada Iryna Gerashchenko stressed that the bill belongs to the group of legislation important to the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. 

MP Alyona Shkrum from Batkivshchyna faction noted that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine presented a low-quality bill, which contradicts Directive 2014/26/EU on collective rights management and multi-territorial licensing of rights in musical works for online uses. Nevertheless, a lot of critics of bill No. 7466 almost all the faction underlined its importance and supported its adoption in the first reading.

At the end of the morning sitting, Parubiy extended the sitting for 15 minutes and conducted a signal voting to see the support of this bill consideration. There were only 182 votes in favor.

A total of 244 people’s deputies after a full procedure of consideration adopted bill No. 7466 in the first reading at the beginning of the evening sitting.
