BPP calls to solve the CEC issue

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy after adoption of bill No. 7441 on amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On the Judicial System and the Status of Judges "in connection with the adoption of the Law of Ukraine “High Anti-Corruption Court" said he will provide 1 minute for each faction for a speech as was agreed during the consultations.

Petro Poroshenko Bloc (BPP) faction confirmed its position that the renewal of the Central Election Commission (CEC) is a very important issue. As they said in the morning (during consultations) BPP faction is ready to recall one of its candidate to the post in the CEC.

People’s Front faction noted that the renewal is not a subject for the discussion, welcomes the decision of the BPP stressing that the PACE recommendations should be followed.

Opposition Bloc faction said that fight for the election has started, social bills are not considered in the Parliament instead MPs are discussing the issue of the CEC formation. “Who will control the CEC will potentially control the results of election” – the representative of the Opposition bloc Olexander Dolzhenkov stressed. He also underlined the importance of quota principle and noted that 2 opposition candidates were not proposed for the posts in the CEC.

Radical Party faction said that the President Petro Poroshenko is trying to falsify elections and control the CEC.

Batkivshchyna faction stressed that the President Petro Poroshenko has created the problem with the election of the CEC members by proposing 14 members to 13 posts.

“Samopomich” Union faction will support the idea of BPP to recall their candidate to the CEC.

Vidrodzhennia ("Renaissance") parliamentary group called for the representation of each party and fair elections, adoption of bill No. 7390 on establishing an algorithm for transferring funds to current accounts to electricity suppliers at a regulated tariff.

Volia Narodu (“Will of the People”) parliamentary group said that all the CEC members should be recalled in the year 2014. Supports that one candidate should be recalled but no matter from which party. Asked to find money for children's Eurovision.

After that Petro Poroshenko Bloc (BPP) faction and Volia Narodu (“Will of the People”) parliamentary group asked for a 15-minute break. After the break the Head of the presidential-parliamentary faction, BPP Artur Gerasymov asked to conduct a signal voting to see the support of the CEC issue consideration now without 1 candidate from the BPP.
