An hour of questions to Government of Ukraine takes place at the Parliament

The First Deputy Chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada Iryna Gerashchenko due to the business trip of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy opened today’s sitting and gave a word to People’s Front faction leader Maksym Burbak on behalf of 2 factions, who asked for a break. Burbak informed that the Russian Federation in response of a positive decision in Stockholm arbitrage in the dispute between national joint-stock company Naftogaz and Russia's PJSC Gazprom made on February 28, reduced the pressure in the gas pipe. He urged all citizens to set the temperature on the boiler to a lower level.

The Minister of Regional Development, Building and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko reported on the abovementioned issue regarding gas supply, noted the importance of the last bills passed in the Parliament, activities of the Energy Efficiency Fund and creation of the Multi-Donor Fund.

The Minister of Justice Pavlo Petrenko delivered a speech on arrears of alimony and salary payments.

The Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Ihor Nasalyk asked for a word and reported on the urgent measures taken regarding the reduction of the pressure in the gas pipe.

Issues raised by the representatives of factions: spending $2.56 billion by the Government, which international arbitration court order for Gazprom to pay to Naftogaz; Government error when calculating pensions, resolution #1104 and a liberal tax reform; rare disease of child – case of Arina Movchanyuk, purchasing of tramadol by the Ministry of Health, increase funding for purchase cardiac occluders (implants); lack of funding for technical schools and colleges; urgency in adopting a new language bill; pension provision for internally displaced persons (IDP); the closure of Ukrainian Postal Service (Ukrposhta) post offices in rural areas, low salaries of employees in the post offices, U.S. citizenship of the Acting Minister of Health Uliana Suprun.

Question raised by the people's deputies: sick leave letters; Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto statement on language law; rising pressure on businesses, the Security Service of Ukraine’s (SBU) work on customs, the SBU's reform; salaries for miners; subvention and payment of salaries to teachers and doctors, lack of funds to utilities; management of “UkrOboronProm” (state conglomerate comprising defense companies), debts to employees of the Mykolaiv Shipbuilding Plant and future of the missile cruiser 'Ukraina' ('Ukraine'); payment of cash compensations to released hostages; a moment of silence to respect 8 miners, who died after a methane explosion at the Lviv oblast mine on March 2, 2017.

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy is absent today due to the business trip and taking part in the inter-parliamentary conference "Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine: Eastern Partnership and Current Security Challenges" in Chisinau (Moldova). Yesterday, Parubiy informed that the Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman will come to the conference as well. On behalf of Groysman, the Government was represented by the First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv.
