MPs adopted the bill on language in the first reading

After a long discussion on bills regarding the functioning of the Ukrainian language as a state language Speaker of the Parliament Andriy Parubiy offered to conduct signal voting to see which bill is the most supported by MPs. Bill No. 5556 on languages in Ukraine gained 167 votes in favor, bill No. 5669 on the functioning of the Ukrainian language as a state Language and the use of other languages in Ukraine received only 66 votes in favor, and bill No. 5670-d on ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as a state language - 199 votes. 

However, MPs failed to pass the last bill. There were tough discussions, time for 2-hour break approached and MPs extended by 248 votes in favor the morning sitting till the end of consideration of bills on languages. Parubiy offered to pass 2 bills in the first reading, but no support for this proposition was provided. 

After, the Block of Petro Poroshenko faction representative clarified the position of his faction that they will take into account all amendments before the second reading and will eliminate all contradictions in the bill, the Parliament voted in favor, 261 votes, to back the adoption of bill No. 5670-d in the first reading.
