MPs passed the Resolution #7423 on the schedule for the eighths session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the eighths convocation in its first and final readings by 229 votes. According to the First Deputy Head of the VR Procedure Committee Pavlo Pynzenyk, the session will start on January 16 and close on July 13. There will be 11 plenary weeks, 8 weeks for the work in the Committees, 5 weeks for the work in MPs own constituencies with voters and 11 Government hours.
The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy proposed to amend the original schedule due to the PACE (the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe) session. He offered to schedule the second working week (January 22-26) not for plenary sitting, but for work in the Committees and factions. This will allow the Verkhovna Rada delegation to the PACE not to miss the work in the Ukrainian Parliament and to defend the Ukrainian national interests in the Council of Europe. The leader of Petro Poroshenko faction Artur Gerasymov also asked to change the continuation of plenary weeks in February. People’s deputies supported both propositions.
