The RADA Program has held a regular meeting of technical assistance projects that cooperate with the Parliament. This time it was devoted to public parliamentary education.

The Chief of the Verkhovna Rada Secretariat Viacheslav Shtuchnyi participated in the event. He praised the work of the Parliamentary Educational Center, which, being launched just in July 2019, has established itself as an effective tool for educational work. Viacheslav Shtuchnyi expressed his interest in cooperation with international organizations and informed about plans to set up a training center and a research service at the Verkhovna Rada.

Head of the Parliamentary Educational Center Maryna Tereshchuk described in detail the activities and functions of the Center. She informed about the participation of MPs in its work, as well as its lessons in regions.

The presentation by Iryna Ivaniuk, Deputy Chairman of the Board of NGO “Association ‘Agency for Education Policy Development’”, was devoted to the creation of a network of interactive parliamentary education centers in regions. Their aim is to increase pupils' awareness of the work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and of parliamentarism in general.

Maria Savina, an expert on parliamentary education and citizen engagement at the UNDP Parliamentary Reform Office, presented a comprehensive program of parliamentary education. Experts have already evaluated the school education in terms of coverage of parliamentary issues in the school curriculum. It is expected that work on the program of parliamentary education will be completed by the end of 2020; after that, testing of elaborated methods and tools will take place in schools.

The participants discussed various aspects of the development of public parliamentary education.

Among others, MPs Pavlo Frolov, Yulia Hryshyna, Vadym Halaichuk and Pavlo Bakunets participated in the discussion.
