USAID RADA Program Presented Its Trainings At the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

On March 2, a presentation of the USAID RADA Program Training Center took place at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The Center conducts training sessions for the People's Deputies of Ukraine, their aides, and the Parliamentary Secretariat staff.

The RADA Program Training Center actively cooperates with the VRU Secretariat. Representatives of the Secretariat take part in the Center activities; they also offer training modules to enhance the skills of the Secretariat staff.

Andriy Melnychuk, Deputy Head of the Main Organizational Office of the Secretariate, and Igor Kohut, Director of the USAID RADA Program, welcomed the audience.

Chief supervisor of the Center Aliona Dolia and deputy director of the RADA Program Tetiana Bibik told attendees about methodology of trainings.

MPs Roman Kaptelov and Viacheslav Rubliov shared their experience of cooperation with the RADA Program during the trainings.

Since 2016, when the Center was established, it has conducted 57 trainings.

Since August 2019, after early parliamentary elections, it has organized 29 training sessions for MPs of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of their 9th convocation, their aides and staffers of the Verkhovna Rada; above 80% of newly elected deputies and more than 500 aides took part in them.

The trainings cover the following topics:

• Rules of procedure of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

• Activities of MPs and his teams

• Reporting to voters

• Fundamentals of civic parliamentary education

• Public policy analysis

• Digital security and online communication

• Fundamentals of state policy and preparation of information and analytical materials to support legislative process

Cooperation between the USAID RADA Program Training Center and the Verkhovna Rada Secretariat takes place within the framework of the Action Plan for organizing and conducting the orientation session for the newly elected People's Deputies of Ukraine and training of the People's Deputies of Ukraine and their aides-consultants for 2019-2020, as well as within the framework of the Action Plan for institutional support of the representative function of the People's Deputies of Ukraine in the constituencies for 2019-2020 in the framework of cooperation between the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat and the USAID RADA Program.
