Verkhovna Rada Secretariat with the support of the USAID’s RADA Program organized the 10th annual Technical Assistance Information Fair on the premises of the Parliament on May 15-16.

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy in welcome remarks said, "The holding of the Information Fair has become traditional for the Ukrainian Parliament. Such event is a sign of the current stage of development of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine - openness of the Parliament: implementing various initiatives and reforming, the Verkhovna Rada introduces many traditional and innovative attributes of openness and citizen engagement”.

MPs, their aides, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat, and mass media learned about 43 organizations that work closely with the Parliament through the presented materials, resources, and expertise distributed at stands located in the main building of the Parliament. The Information Fair provided an opportunity for the Verkhovna Rada to connect with experts from civil society organizations, think tanks, academic institutions, and international technical assistance projects.

“This year the Verkhovna Rada Secretariat took the lead in organizing it. It is a great indication that we can count on the Fair continuing,” Deputy Mission Director at USAID Ukraine John Pennel said, “the Fair is important because it creates an opportunity for both the Verkhovna Rada and participating organizations to meet and talk; to expand their professional networks, discuss opportunities for cooperation; and initiate joint projects and long-term partnerships”.

During the Fair, European Information and Research Center employees conducted a flash-mob to distribute brochures about activities. On the second day of the Fair, USAID’s RADA Program jointly with implementing partners and Verkhovna Rada Secretariat organized an exposition on an interaction of the Verkhovna Rada with citizens in front of the Parliament. For the first time, the Verkhovna Rada representatives went outside to talk on e-tools and citizens’ involvement in the legislative process.
