The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine holds an “hour of questions to the Government of Ukraine” on Fridays during plenary weeks. The Minister of Justice Pavlo Petrenko reported on novelties how to reduce cases when one of spouses is not paying alimony. He gave the following examples: if the non-payment of alimony takes place more than 6 months – the prohibition of departure abroad; evading alimony payments – engaging in socially useful work.
The Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Ostap Semerak presented the National Waste Management Strategy in Ukraine approved by the Cabinet of Ministers early this week. The Strategy was elaborated with the expert support of the German development agency (GIZ) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). It is a comprehensive document that will determine the state policy until 2030. Ostap Semerak highlighted in his speech three basic principles of the Strategy: transition to a circular economy, extension of producer responsibility and five-step waste management. “Yearly every resident of Ukraine produces 10 tons of waste every, when citizen of the EU produces only 5 tons of waste” – stressed the importance of the Strategy the Minister.
Issues, which were raised by MPs during the Government Hour: repairs works and modernization of perinatal center in Lviv; wage arrears to doctors in Smila, city in Cherkasy Oblast; the destruction of roads in the city of Stebnyk, Lviv Oblast due to an abandoned potash mine; replacement of medical X-ray tube, which costs UAH 3 million hryvnias, needed for computed tomography in the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery; raider capture of agricultural enterprises in Poltava Oblast; grants for state coal mines; a runway reconstruction project at the Odessa International Airport; import of coal and functioning of gas distribution network; the issue of issuing sick leave; recalculation of pension for servicemen and ecology issues due to water descent in the Ternopil Oblast.
