Parubiy, Experts Discuss How to Reform Electoral Legislation

Verkhovna Rada First Deputy Chairman Andriy Parubiy and experts of the group on electoral legislation reform within the Reanimation Package of Reforms initiative met to discuss ways of finding the most optimal election system.

Parubiy called the search for a new open system of electoral legislation "one of the most important tasks that challenge Ukraine, especially on the eve of the local elections." Such legislation must ensure that people make their choice based on their convictions, not through falsifications and bribery, according to the Deputy Speaker

Groisman Runs First Meeting of Task Force for Decentralization and Local Government Reform

The Expert Group for legislative support of power decentralization and local government reform held its first meeting, presided by Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Groisman.

In his opening address Groisman said the task force has to work out unified complex solutions on local government reform, local community development and power decentralization in order to introduce these solutions into the parliament. The group should also consider initiatives of local governments and communities, he added.

VR Committee: Changes in Constitution to Become Administrative Reform's First Step

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on State Building, Regional Policy and Local Self-Government said it believes making amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine should become the first step in Ukraine's administrative-territorial reform, followed by the development and adoption of a number of decentralization bills.
