Online discussion “Involvement of Regional Stakeholders in the Legislative Process”

Today, within the framework of the Days of Parliament in Lviv oblast, an online discussion was held on “Involvement of Regional Stakeholders in the Legislative Process." The event was attended by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov, MPs of Ukraine Halyna Vasylchenko, Roman Lozynskyi, Rostyslav Tistyk, Volodymyr Vyatrovych, Pavlo Bakunets and Natalia Pipa, representatives of local self-government bodies and NGOs of Lviv oblast.

The RADA Program Will Conduct Trainings on Gender-Sensitive Analysis of Legislation

USAID RADA Program trainers attended a training on gender-sensitive analysis of legislation.

During the training, they discussed in detail Ukraine’s international and domestic obligations on gender equality and familiarized themselves with the methodology of ex-ante gender impact assessment and relevant best practices.

The participants were told what data is used for the relevant analysis of draft laws and learned about the methods for collecting such data.

The Heads of the Secretariats of the Committees and the RADA Program Planned Further Cooperation

The USAID RADA Program held a coordination meeting with the heads of the secretariats of the Model Committees. It was dedicated to cooperation with the Committees in the implementation of the Model Committee Initiative.

Workshops for IRC Interns Were Held

For the interns of the Information and Research Center of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Denys Hubashov (consultant on open data policy introduction, analyst for Texty.org.ua) continued the series of workshops on work with open data.

The participants were taught how to visualize data using PowerBI, Tablaeu and other tools.

And expert from the Association of Women Lawyers of Ukraine “JurFem” discussed with the interns the importance of gender legal examination, outlined its main aspects and shared practical experience in conducting it.

Hour of Questions and Answers for Secretaries of Committees on the VR’s Electronic Systems

The USAID RADA Program, together with the Computerized Systems Department of the VR Secretariat, co-organized a training event for employees of the Committees’ secretariats.


“The Hour of Questions and Answers” focused on the experience of using the VRU’s electronic systems by the parliamentary Committees.


The First Training on Parliamentary Civic Education Was Held

The USAID RADA Program held a pilot training on “Parliamentary Civic Education.”

The event was conducted for aides to MPs.

The participants learned about the specifics of parliamentary education. They were also taught about the sequence of development and introduction of the respective programs and the stages of their implementation.

During the session, they also learned how to develop parliamentary civic education events.

The event took place on February 4-5, 2021.

NGO Representatives Learned to Interact with the Parliament

On February 2-4, 2021, the training “Public Participation in the Work of the Parliament and the Legislative Process. Advocacy” was conducted. Its participants were representatives of NGOs cooperating with the three Model Committees of the VR of Ukraine: Committees on Humanitarian and Information Policy, on Environmental Policy and Nature Management, and on State Building, Local Governance, Regional and Urban Development.

On January 28, the USAID RADA Program, together with the NGO “Internews Ukraine,” conducted a strategic session “Presentation and Discussion of the Concept of Information and Consultative Centers of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the Regions (RICC VRU).” The experts analyzed the best practices for informing the population about the work of parliaments and presented the model and the possible formats of operation of the future information and consultative centers.

VR Chairman Dmytro Razumkov Welcomed Participants in the Youth Internship Program in the Parliament

On January 25, the 2021 Youth Internship Program in the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine was officially inaugurated in an opening ceremony.

At the ceremony, VR Chairman Dmytro Razumkov noted that about 50 persons complete the internship annually and five of the current MPs are the Program’s alumni.
